Q

I've got mushrooms popping up in my lawn - is this anything I need to worry about?

A

Mushrooms in lawns are usually not a problem, but can also lead to big problems, so always best to remove them is the best motto.

Mushrooms can sometimes just be a mushroom, so no concern there, the problem is there are 1,000's of mushroom and toadstool varieties and many are poisonous, so if you don't know your mushroom types then best be safe than sorry and remove it.

Mushrooms could also be the beginning signs of a lawn fungal disease called Fairy Ring, so check for mushrooms that form a ring in the lawn.

So make sure you remove the mushrooms as soon as they are seen by carefully digging it our of the lawn including up to 10 cm of soil, carefully put it in a bag and pop it straight in the bin.
